So we finished up last week. We’re going to try to get together for some finishing touches – a skull for the handlebars, for example – but we’re pretty much done. Here’s what it looks like:

So what’s it like to ride?
In a word… terrifying. So it’s got our innovative “hip steering…” the banana seat in back turns with the rear wheel, so you push/pull the handlebars to move yourself to steer.

This is even harder than it sounds.

Also, the problem with rear wheel steering – and the reason you only tend to see it on things like forklifts that only go walking speed – is that it’s not self-correcting: every time you get off straight, it wants to whip around. We’re going to install a steering block that will keep it from turning to far, as that’s how we got that taco’ed wheel early on.

But that doesn’t stop it from being a triumph. And just wait til we get the skull on there…
