Rainy Season July 13, 2007

Well, It seems it’s either one or the other down here, Incredibly hot or pouring down rain. If there is an in between, it’s the times when all the water that has just come down is evaporating and rising off of everything, giving off the effect of a town-wide sauna. I am rained out of work today, again. It makes me feel stupid for not going to work yesterday and put up shiny tin roofing in the 96 degree heat, instead of sitting around reading the latest William Safire column, which I thought wouldn’t have been my best choice. What can I do? What I need to do is to be making more money, plain and simple.
Working on the race coming up has been promising at least. Sponsors are coming together pretty easily and the course is sort of solidifying itself. I rode all the off-road sections the other day and most of the last part of it was under 5 inches of pretty stagnant water, but everything was rideable. I can’t tell if folks are going to be pissed about the trails, or pretty psyched given the absurdity of it. I’d be on the side of the psyched, for sure. How many alleycats have you done where there were just no surprises? Boring.
