Left Coast; Big Time January 28, 2009

Well. I’ve made it back from a trip that seemed to have me in a time vortex.  There’s, unfortunately, not that much I can say about it an any kind of descriptive fashion to really explain it, but suffice to say, it was most definitely intense and life changing.

My trip was to go pre-ride the Tour of California with the folks of the Rapha Continental crew who could do it. I guess I didn’t put too much weight on how impacting it could be to meet five or six new people and promptly get on the road with them for eight days, multiple hotels, and seven hundred miles of riding. The ambition of the project itself now seems secondary only to the determination of the folks who kept it all on the road.

It was a fifty hour week of riding, never mind the time put into driving and other such logistics.

As the actual Tour of California starts, the Rapha site will have a lot more detailed stories of the rides. You’ll have to wait.

What I can tell you though, is that Cali. is gorgeous, I’ve got some good miles under my belt, I can find no reason to not buy any other component than those made by SRAM, and that Chris Igleheart’s bike is magic set to wheels.
